Psychotherapy for Adults & Teenagers

Find peace, restore balance, and embrace healing—your transformative journey starts here

Sophie's known for her gentle, warm compassionate, down to earth style. Integrating her 17 years of experience as a certified holistic wellness coach, her expertise in neuroscience-informed psychotherapy, and trauma-informed care; Sophie meets you where you are focusing the whole self: body-mind, spirit, soul.  An expert listener, she'll highlight the beliefs and language you use to articulate your life and stories. As you share your own interpretation around those areas most important to you, you'll gain greater self awareness about how you interpret your life events, how they've impacted your choices and mindset, and how you can reorganize your interpretations to empower your present and future. You'll collaborate to gently move towards practical solutions that inspire self confidence and clarity and empowerment.

Sophie fosters healing with compassion, active listening, trauma-informed care and simple strategies to promote calm, and agency as you move through the medical system. Sophie supports those with cancer, infertility challenges, PTSD combat veterans and first responders, traumatic brain injuries, anxiety, chronic pain, depression, moral injuries, or other complex medical diagnoses.

Brain-informed tools — Practical neuroscience strategies that help you shift out of survival mode and reclaim control over your thoughts, emotions, and body responses

Empowering reframing — Moving from self-criticism and stuck patterns to self-compassion and new possibilities

Holistic & individualized — No cookie-cutter plans. We integrate whatever approaches feel most helpful and safe for you

Real results focus — Building lasting confidence, better emotional regulation, improved relationships, and a stronger sense of agency in your health and life

As a recognized professional in holistic health and lifestyle medicine since 2008, Sophie's been an invited guest contributor providing wellness advice to Good Housekeeping, Nylon, Altadena Patch, The New York Times, The MomCo, and Lululemon. Sophie's also contributed to academic research around complementary medicine, faith, and medical anthropology at Brown University, University of Southern California, and University of California, Santa Barbara exploring alternative medicine practices. Throughout Sophie's career she's trained hundreds in meditation, holistic healing, coaching, creative arts, personal growth & development, and healthy communication for parents and children. Sophie's own research at Pacific Oaks College & Children's School in 2013 focused on the impact of father's on male development with her thesis: When Boys Become Fathers Who Have Sons: Examining the Importance of Fathers for Male Development

With Sophie's master of arts in human development specializing in early childhood education, she has significant expertise in child development, education, and high school psychotherapy. She connects with your teenager with warmth, honesty and humor with creative approaches like art, play, music, game, eco-psychotherapy, and cinema therapy. She helps your teen overcome anxiety, including social and academic, ADHD, bullying, and low self-esteem. While maintaining confidentiality, Sophie takes a collaborative approach with parents and your teen to design straightforward, practical action plans to support your child's well-being.

As a holistic psychotherapist, I weave together evidence-based tools from neuroscience, CBT reframing, somatic awareness, and strengths-based strategies to create a completely personalized path forward — one that honors both your brain and your lived experience. My approach goes beyond traditional talk therapy. I help you understand how your nervous system and brain patterns have been shaped by your life experiences, then gently guide you toward rewiring them to achieve more calm, clarity, peacefulness and confidence in your life and relationships.

As a psychotherapist supporting veterans reintegrating into civilian life, or living as a civilian for years, Sophie understands both positions.  Her experience with acute, complex and chronic PTSD, moral injuries, anxiety, adjustment disorder, depression, sleep disturbances, traumatic brain injury, cognitive distortions, substance-use/abuse, relationship distress, and other mental health challenges,  Sophie works from a strength-based position that incorporates neuroscience, relaxation, post traumatic growth, and other life skills to self regulate and improve relationships.

Sophie's family service dates back to the War of 1812. Her father served in Vietnam, her grandfathers in WWII, and husband the Gulf War. Sophie was also raised in a law enforcement family serving major California cities and the Department of Justice. Growing up surrounded by veterans and law enforcement officers, Sophie has first-hand knowledge how military life, wars and law enforcement can impact family life and relationship dynamics.

Medical family therapy — Supporting individuals, couples, and families navigating chronic illness, medical trauma, health anxiety, or caregiving stress

Veterans & military-connected adults — Specialized care for PTSD, moral injury, transition challenges, complex trauma, and rebuilding life after service

Teens & emerging adults — Helping adolescents and young adults with anxiety, depression, identity questions, family conflict, academic pressure, and life transitions

Adults of all ages — Addressing burnout, perfectionism, relational patterns, grief, life transitions, and reclaiming vitality after difficult seasons

Your holistic psychotherapy plan can include one and/or a combination of: Narrative Therapy, Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Storytelling, Psychodynamic, Play Therapy, Somatic Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, Art Therapy, Eco-Psychotherapy, Cinema Therapy, Music Therapy, and Equine Psychotherapy (TBD). Sophie understands that "life happens" and has a Cancellation Policy for those times.  Because psychotherapy requires regularly scheduled appointments for best results the time reserved for you means someone else is unable to receive mental health support at that time.  Thus, Weekly clients are allowed 3 free cancellations every 6 months, and bi-weekly clients are allowed 2 free cancellations every 6 months, beginning from the date of your first session.  After this, you will be responsible for payment for your normally scheduled session time for all cancelled appointments, regardless of whether you attend or not.

You may always choose to reschedule and/or take sessions virtually to accommodate occasional scheduling conflicts as often as needed within 24hrs. Rescheduled sessions are subject to availability.
